About Us

At Mumma Magma Yoga we are passionate about building community and bringing people from all walks of life together in a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment. We deliver in-person and online Hatha Yoga classes that are informed, inclusive, and community oriented to individuals who want to increase mobility, flexibility and strength, mitigate chronic pain, and improve mental health.

You can practice with Tamu at Kerry Park Recreation Centre, Sylvan United Church, and The Loft Studios in Mill Bay, and at the Gorge Pavilion in Esquimalt. To view class options, head on over to our classes page.

In 2024, Mumma Magma Yoga entered into a wonderful co-creative relationship with The Loft Studios in Mill Bay. What began as a simple idea for an annual yoga retreat has blossomed into regular yoga classes, workshops and retreats, as well as art classes, pop up craft markets, and studio rentals in the Loft’s warm and inviting space.

Whether you are practicing yoga or meditation with Tamu and Mumma Magma, or you are rekindling your relationship with your artistic self with Cheryl at The Loft Studios, you are invited to show up as you are and to walk your path to self-discovery, healing, and connection in your own unique and beautiful way.

We are excited to welcome you to this community and provide space for you to deepen your yoga practice, dive into your creative Self, and cultivate meaningful connection with kindred spirit.

Welcome Home.

Tamu Miles

For the past 30-years I have written an online horoscope column, facilitated spiritual gatherings, and read tarot for individuals who are looing to deepen their spiritual practice on Vancouver Island and across North America.

In 2014 I discovered the benefits of yoga as part of a health and spiritual reconnection journey. Later, at the height of the pandemic, I obtained my 200hr YTT certification through the Online Yoga School – one of the first of its kind – and soon after quit my full-time job as an office manager to launch Mumma Magma Yoga.

Since then, I have taught hundreds of classes across Southern Vancouver Island working primarily with people who are Gen X or older millennial who want to practice in a down-to-earth, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment; are dealing with mild to moderate mobility issues – or other health issues; and who seek practical mindfulness and mind-body connection techniques.

I am currently working to obtain my 800hr Yoga Therapy certification while offering regular hatha, gentle, chair, yin, and vinyasa classes at The Loft Studios, Kerry Park Recreation Centre and Sylvan United Church in Mill Bay, as well as The Gorge Pavilion in Esquimalt.

Cheryl Guay of The Loft Studios in Mill Bay

After many years in the corporate world, I felt a strong pull to slow down and reconnect with myself. Through time spent creating, gardening, and embracing quieter moments, I rediscovered the joy and grounding that come from working with your hands and being present.

That journey led me to create The Loft Studios — a welcoming space designed to bring people together through creativity, movement, and shared experiences. The studio is rooted in a sense of community, offering a place where people of all backgrounds and experience levels can gather, explore, and feel inspired alongside one another.
